Report by Tony Bullock
Easter Sunday saw the opening of the railway for the 2016 season.
The day dawned fairly bright but breezy and several families arrived promptly for the first train in spite of losing an hour’s sleep as the clocks went forward.
With four locos in steam and two non-steam available all boded well for an exciting day. However, it was not long before the first of the forecast rain started and running was restricted.
As the rain cleared the afternoon was better and many people arrived to enjoy the trains.
The only passenger to arrive on Easter Monday Morning was ‘Katie’ the storm with strong winds and rain. (It seems that we did not have such severe weather before they started giving storms names!) Happily, Katie rushed off around lunch time and all ran well in the afternoon.
The Station Buffet served refreshments throughout the weekend and was very busy on both days.
We are all looking forward to operating the railway over the summer and to welcoming passengers new and old to ride the rails to Hammer Hill on one of our trains.
