September Happenings

The members’ meeting on Monday 9th was graced by a presentation on Gauge 3 railways by Alan Marsden.  He showed  a number of videos of layouts (some with on train cameras) and a display of locomotives and rolling stock belonging to him and other members.  It was a surprise to some present that Gauge 3 exists amongst us.

The public running day on Sunday 22nd enjoyed fine weather and went according to plan apart from a few hiccups with the main line speedily dealt with by the maintenance crew.  A major overhaul of the track is planned over the coming months.

Friday 20th brought about a first for the Society.  The hire of the Clubhouse to a Woodcarving group. Ten woodcarvers occupied the building under the watchful eye of member Barbara Beard.  The class will use the Clubhouse on a regular basis until the end of March 2014 bringing useful income to the delight of our Treasurer.  The hire of the Clubhouse also fulfils one of the requirements of the grant towards its build by being available to the local community.
