2019 Miniature Railway Season begins.
By Tony Bullock
Our railways opened on 31st. March on a cool but bright day for the first open day of 2019.
In spite of losing an hour of sleep after changing the clocks people were starting to gather at the Ticket Office around 10:15. The BMES team also made it on time and soon full trains were leaving Haynes End for Hammer Hill.
With parts of our track on the main line relaid over winter there was an improved ride around the Hammer Hill loop with the latest signals showing the way. The refurbished picnic area was well patronised which gives a view of the Winterfield and garden railway operations.
An odd snag or two appeared after the winter closure but they were soon sorted out without disrupting service. With school holidays, Easter and May Bank Holiday over the next few weeks we look forward to welcoming you to Summerfields Miniature Railways.
Please note that we are unable to process cards so all services require cash payment.
